Photography has been an interest of mine for quite some time now–not telling how long. But suffice it to say that it’s been since high school and I didn’t graduate recently. Anyway, many photographers choose to do a 365 project to track and illustrate their progress over a year, taking and posting pictures daily. Nice idea, but I’m a desk jockey and don’t shoot every day. Additionally, it’s been done so many times by now that it’s a bit stale. However, I like the idea of documenting one’s progression over time and is the reason for this photo blog.
Join me as I journey towards photographic vision. Chances are, you won’t see a picture every day, but my intention is that photographs will be posted for more than a single year. The journey doesn’t end in 365 days!
Today’s photo was actually taken last Thursday when my buddy, co-worker and fellow recovering photography addict, Kevin Williams, and I took a lunch-time stroll through a neighborhood near work in the harsh, noon-time sun. I wanted to test my recently-acquired neutral density (ND) filters to get a feel for them. As it turned out, I found this cattail just when some cloud cover masked the sun and I didn’t end up needing the NDs. The photo was taken with my Nikon D200 and Tokina 12-24 f/4 lens (mine’s the older, first version of this lens–not the DX II).
